Leistus terminatus (Panzer, 1793) ( = Leistus rufescens (Fabricius 1775)) a European-Siberian species, in the south of its range it is distributed mainly in the mountains. The species has been indicated from Kosiv (Miller, 1868), Kremenets, Kyiv vicinity (Hochhuth, 1871), from the belt of spruce forests to the alpine zone of Chornohora range (Nowicki, 1873), from Galicia, Volynska, Kyivska, Kharkivska, Katerynoslavska, ?Tavriiska (Kryn.) governorates (Якобсон, 1905), Poland (Łomnicki, 1913), Yasinia (Roubal, 1930), Pip Ivan Mt. in Chornohora range (Пономарчук, 1958), Westren Podillia (Кулянда, 1978), Gorgany massif, Chornohora range, Lviv vicinity, Kamianka-Buska, Pip Ivan Mt. (Chornohora range) (Ризун, 1988, 1989), Chyvchyny range (Rizun, Pawłowski, 1997), the Transcarpathian Lowland (up to 300 m a.s.l.), the Carpathians (including the Ciscarpathian region with foothills above 300 m a.s.l.), Right-Bank Polissia (mixed forest zone), Left-Bank Polissia (mixed forest zone), Broadleaf Forest Zone (including the Ciscarpathian region, but with foothills of the Carpathians up to 300 m a.s.l. and Male Polissia), Right-Bank Forest-Steppe, Left-Bank Forest-Steppe (Пучков, 2012). In the Ukrainian Carpathians the species was found in Gorgany massif, Chyvchyny range, Chornohora range, Krasna range, Borzhava range and the Transcarpathian Lowland. L. terminatus (Panzer, 1793) was found in the spruce forest belt and in subalpine zone (Різун, 2003). The distribution of the species in the region is shown in Figure 1. Young beetles were found in the second decade of May and the third decade of June (subalpine zone of the Carpathians). Mature eggs (4 pcs.) were found in a female caught on 26.VI.1984 (Belarus). There are 24 specimens of Leistus terminatus (Panzer, 1793) in the museum collection: 5 spec. from Poland – Warszawa, Pilawa (three specimens collected by J. Makólski), Zakopane (A. Stöckl), vicinity of Gdańsk, Sobieszewo (V.B. Rizun); 2 spec. from Belarus – Domzheritsy, Berezinskyi Biosphere Reserve; and 17 spec. from Ukraine – Lvivska province: Bilohorshcha, Kamianka-Buzka (V. Zanko), Dobrotvir (V.B. Rizun), Pidmonastyrok (V.B. Rizun) – plain part of the western region of Ukraine; the Ukrainian Carpathians: Chornohora range (M. Łomnicki, R.F. Tur, A.S. Susulovskyi), Chyvchyny range (V.B. Rizun), Borzhava range (V.B. Rizun) and Rivna (Runa) massife (V.B. Rizun). L. terminatus (Panzer, 1793) was found in the following, predominantly humid habitats: wet black alder forest, wet litter in alder-birch forest, along a stream in mountain beech forest, on the river bank and in the subalpine zone.
