Remarks
Berula erecta is listed as Near Threatened in Estonia and Endangered B2ab(i,ii,iii,iv,v) in Norway. It is categorized Least Concern (LC) in the Czech Republic (Čeřovský et al. 1999).

Occurrence: Ab(A, N), Al, Ar, Au(A, L), Be(B, L), BH, Bl(I, M, N), Br, Bu, By, Cg, Co, Cr, Cs, Ct, Da, Eg, Es, Ga(F), Ge, Gg, Gr, Hb(E, N), He, Ho, Hs(S), Hu, Ir, It, Jo, La, -Le, Lt, Lu, Ma, Mk, Mo, No, Po, Rf(C, CS, NW, S), Rm, Sa, Si(S), Sk, Sl, Sr, Su, Sy, Tu(A, E), Uk(K, U) (EuroMed, 2018). B. erecta has a sub-cosmopolitan distribution, occurring throughout much of the Northern Hemisphere, from Europe east to China and throughout central and western North America north to British Columbia and Ontario as well as East Africa from the Nile Delta south to South Africa. It is naturalized in Australia. There is no information available on population trends in this species. This species grows in a wide range of freshwater habitats such as marshes, fens, springs, seepages, lakes, pools, streams and ditches. It is most typically found on calcareous water. This plant is toxic, and capable of causing death to grazing animals (Plants For A Future 2009).
